dealing with the Manitoba Cell phone bill which restricts the use of cell phones
in motor vehicles.
This bill as originally worded COULD have also including
Amateur Radio from being used in a motor vehicle while driving.
Now let me get this
straight from the beginning. I applaud any bill to restrict cell phone use in a
motor vehicle. I truly think it is needed to keep some people from driving &
talking on a cell phone.
But read the attached documents.
Here is one local reason why as an Amateur Radio operator you should
support your National organization - Radio Amateurs of Canada (RAC) and your local Amateur
Radio Emergency Service (ARES) unit. It was through work done by members of
these g roups and the Winnipeg Amateur Radio club that we were able to gain an
exemption to the bill.
